This Tahini Hot Chocolate is a super creamy and dreamy protein-rich beverage, combining the nutty flavor of tahini with rich cocoa powder and natural sweeteners. Enhanced with collagen peptides and coconut milk powder for extra creaminess and protein, this comforting drink is perfect for a quick, warming treat or a nutritious boost. Optional toppings like coconut whipped cream, tahini drizzle, and shaved dark chocolate elevate the indulgence.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 Tbsp tahini
  • 1 pitted medjool date (or 2 tsp coconut sugar or other sweetener of choice)
  • 1/2 tsp maple syrup or honey (if not vegan)
  • 1 pinch sea salt
  • 1 pinch ground cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp collagen peptides (omit if vegan)
  • 2 Tbsp coconut milk powder (or omit and substitute hot water below with warmed milk of choice)
  • 1 ¼ cup very hot water (or milk of choice)

Toppings (Optional)

  • Coconut whipped cream
  • Drizzle of tahini
  • Dusting of cocoa powder
  • Shaved dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Combine ingredients in blender: For the best texture and creaminess, add cocoa powder, tahini, pitted date (or alternative sweetener), maple syrup or honey, sea salt, cinnamon, collagen peptides, coconut milk powder, and very hot water into a high-speed blender that has a lid with a vent to allow steam to escape. If you don’t have a blender, heat on the stovetop after blending cold ingredients, or omit the date and adjust sweetener.
  2. Blend until smooth: Blend the mixture until creamy and smooth. Taste and tweak the flavor by adding more honey or maple syrup for sweetness, cinnamon for warmth, extra cocoa powder for richer chocolate flavor, or coconut milk powder or tahini for added creaminess.
  3. Serve and garnish: Pour into a mug and enjoy as is or top with coconut whipped cream. Add an optional drizzle of tahini, a dusting of cocoa powder, or chocolate curls made by shaving your favorite dark chocolate bar to enhance presentation and flavor.
  4. Store leftovers: Best enjoyed fresh, though any leftovers can be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently on the stovetop before serving.

Notes

  • If you don’t have a high-speed blender, combine ingredients without the date, substitute sweetener accordingly, and heat on the stovetop while stirring.
  • Collagen peptides add protein and creaminess but omit if following a vegan diet.
  • Adjust sweetness and creaminess to your taste by varying maple syrup, honey, tahini, and coconut milk powder.
  • Toppings are optional but add richness and a decorative touch.
  • Use warmed milk (dairy or plant-based) instead of hot water for an even creamier drink.
  • Medjool date can be substituted with coconut sugar or other sweeteners if preferred or for easier blending.
