This Matcha (Green Tea) Banana “Ice Cream” is a quick and healthy 3-ingredient dessert that uses ripe bananas, matcha powder, and sweetened condensed milk to create a creamy, soft-serve style ice cream. It’s a dairy-free, vegan-friendly treat that requires no ice cream maker, just a food processor and a bit of freezing time.

Ingredients

Fruits

  • 3 ripe bananas

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder

Liquid/Sweetener

  • 1 tablespoon sweetened condensed milk

Instructions

  1. Slice Bananas: Peel and slice the ripe bananas into small pieces to make them easier to blend once frozen.
  2. Freeze Bananas: Place the sliced bananas in a single layer on a tray or plate and freeze for at least 3 hours or overnight to ensure they are completely frozen.
  3. Blend Bananas: Transfer the frozen banana pieces to a food processor and blend until the texture resembles mashed potatoes, stopping occasionally to scrape down the sides for even blending.
  4. Add Matcha and Condensed Milk: Add the 2 teaspoons of matcha powder and 1 tablespoon of sweetened condensed milk to the food processor and blend again until the mixture is smooth and creamy, with a soft-serve ice cream consistency.
  5. Serve or Freeze: Serve the ice cream immediately for a soft texture, or transfer it to a container and freeze for another 1.5 hours if a firmer consistency is desired.

Notes

  • Thaw frozen bananas for a few minutes before blending to make processing easier.
  • Stop the food processor occasionally to scrape down the sides for smooth blending.
  • For a healthier version, skip the sweetened condensed milk or use it as a topping to control sweetness.
  • Enhance the dish by topping with diced strawberries, blueberries, or toasted almonds for added flavor and texture.
