Perfect for a quick dinner, this burger-inspired bowl packs all the classic flavors of a smash burger with the convenience of a bowl format, topped with shredded lettuce, cheddar cheese, and optional avocado slices.

Ingredients

For the Burger Bowl:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for best flavor)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

For the Roasted Garlic Potatoes:

  • 1 lb baby gold potatoes, quartered
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp salt

For the Toppings:

  • 3 cups shredded lettuce
  • ½ cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ small red onion, thinly sliced
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup dill pickles
  • 1 avocado, sliced (optional)

For the Special Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayo
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 1 ½ tbsp sweet pickle juice
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika

Instructions

  1. Roast the Potatoes: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, toss the quartered baby gold potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, and salt until evenly coated. Spread the potatoes out in a single layer on a baking sheet. Roast for 20-25 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy on the outside and tender inside.
  2. Make the Special Sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the mayo, ketchup, yellow mustard, sweet pickle juice, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika until smooth. Set aside to let the flavors meld.
  3. Cook the Burger: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Crumble the ground beef directly into the skillet and press it down firmly to create a flat, crispy layer, mimicking a smashed burger. Season evenly with salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the beef is browned and crispy. Stir in the soy sauce and cook for an additional minute to incorporate the flavor.
  4. Assemble the Bowls: Divide the shredded lettuce evenly among four bowls. Top each bowl with the crispy burger crumbles, roasted potatoes, cherry tomatoes, thinly sliced red onion, shredded cheddar cheese, and dill pickles.
  5. Drizzle & Enjoy: Drizzle the prepared special sauce over each bowl. Add sliced avocado on top if desired. Serve immediately to enjoy the mix of textures and flavors.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use ground beef with an 80/20 fat ratio for juicy and crispy burger crumbles.
  • Feel free to swap baby gold potatoes for red potatoes or fingerlings.
  • The special sauce can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Add avocado slices just before serving to prevent browning.
  • Adjust the seasoning of the beef according to your preference for spice or saltiness.
