This refreshing Honeydew Sorbet is an easy, naturally sweet frozen dessert made from honeydew melon, lemon juice, and a touch of maple syrup or honey. Perfect for a light treat on a warm day, this sorbet requires no cooking and uses simple ingredients blended and frozen to creamy perfection.

Ingredients

Ingredients

  • 1 honeydew melon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup or honey
  • 2 tablespoons water (optional, to aid blending)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Melon: Slice the honeydew melon into 1-inch chunks and spread them evenly on a baking sheet.
  2. Freeze the Melon Chunks: Place the baking sheet with the melon chunks into the freezer for 4-6 hours, or until the melon pieces are completely frozen.
  3. Blend the Frozen Melon: Transfer the frozen melon chunks to a blender. Add the lemon juice and the maple syrup or honey. To help blending, add 2 tablespoons of water if needed.
  4. Alternative Blending Method: If you don’t have a high-powered blender, use a food processor to blend the ingredients until smooth.
  5. Freeze to Set: Pour the blended mixture into a container and place it back into the freezer for about 30 minutes to allow the sorbet to set properly.
  6. Serve: Scoop the sorbet into bowls or cones and enjoy your refreshing homemade honeydew sorbet!

Notes

  • Use ripe honeydew melon for the best flavor and natural sweetness.
  • You can substitute maple syrup for honey to keep the sorbet vegan.
  • If the sorbet becomes too hard after freezing, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping.
  • Adding lemon juice balances the sweetness and enhances the melon’s flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 3 days.
