This Easy Shrimp Alfredo recipe delivers a creamy, comforting pasta dish perfect for weeknights or casual dinners. Featuring tender shrimp cooked in a rich sauce made from cream cheese, heavy cream, garlic, and Parmesan, this meal combines simplicity and indulgence in just 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Shrimp

  • 1 pound uncooked (31-40/pound size) shrimp (thawed & peeled, tails optional)

Pasta

  • 8 ounces uncooked fettuccine

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 4 ounces cream cheese (softened & cut into smaller pieces)
  • 3/4 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 2 large cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • Salt & pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prep Shrimp: If your shrimp are frozen, place them in a colander and run under cool water until fully thawed. Peel and remove tails if desired.
  2. Cook Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the fettuccine according to package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Start Sauce: In a skillet over medium heat, add butter, cream cheese, heavy cream, chicken broth, and minced garlic. Stir occasionally to help the cream cheese melt into a smooth sauce over a few minutes.
  4. Simmer Sauce: Once the cream cheese is fully incorporated, let the sauce gently bubble for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, so it slightly reduces and thickens. Meanwhile, grate your Parmesan cheese.
  5. Add Parmesan: Stir the grated Parmesan into the sauce and cook for an additional minute to melt and combine.
  6. Cook Shrimp in Sauce: Add the thawed shrimp to the skillet and cook for 5 to 6 minutes, stirring occasionally, until shrimp turn pink and opaque.
  7. Season and Combine: Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Toss the cooked fettuccine with the shrimp Alfredo sauce, ensuring the pasta is evenly coated.
  8. Serve: Serve the shrimp Alfredo immediately while warm and creamy for best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh or previously frozen shrimp for best results; avoid pre-cooked shrimp as they may become rubbery.
  • For a richer sauce, substitute some chicken broth with more heavy cream.
  • Parmesan cheese should be freshly grated to achieve the best melt and flavor.
  • Do not overcook the shrimp as they will become tough; cook only until they turn pink and opaque.
  • Add fresh parsley or basil as garnish for a pop of color and freshness.
