This Easy Chai Syrup recipe is a flavorful and aromatic blend of traditional chai spices simmered with brown sugar and water. Perfect for adding a warm, spiced sweetness to tea, coffee, or desserts, this syrup is simple to make and yields enough to sweeten multiple servings.

Ingredients

Chai Syrup Ingredients

  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 3/4 cup water
  • 1 1/2 tablespoon ground ginger
  • 3 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 2 teaspoons ground allspice
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground clove
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, add the brown sugar, water, ground ginger, ground cinnamon, ground allspice, ground clove, ground cardamom, and ground black pepper. Stir vigorously to dissolve the sugar and incorporate all the spices into the liquid.
  2. Simmer: Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Allow the syrup to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally to blend flavors and thicken the syrup slightly.
  3. Cool and Store: Remove the saucepan from heat and let the chai syrup cool completely. Once cooled, transfer it into an airtight container or bottle for storage. Keep refrigerated and use as desired to flavor drinks or desserts.

Notes

  • Store the syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
  • Adjust the amount of spices depending on your preferred chai intensity.
  • Use the syrup to sweeten tea, coffee, or drizzle over desserts like pancakes or ice cream.
  • Shake well before each use to remix any settled spices.
