This Dijon Baked Salmon recipe is a simple yet flavorful dish featuring tender salmon fillets coated in a tangy herbed mustard mixture and baked to perfection. Perfect for a quick, healthy dinner that highlights fresh ingredients like parsley, garlic, and lemon juice.

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 1 ½ pounds salmon (King, Sockeye or Coho salmon)

Herbed Dijon Sauce

  • ¼ cup fresh parsley (finely chopped)
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves (finely chopped)
  • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Mix the Dijon herb sauce: In a small bowl, combine the Dijon mustard, finely chopped fresh parsley, lemon juice, extra-virgin olive oil, finely chopped garlic cloves, salt, and pepper. Stir well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated, forming a flavorful herbed mustard mixture.
  2. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) and allow it to fully preheat to ensure even baking.
  3. Prepare the salmon: Line a baking tray with parchment paper to prevent sticking and to make cleanup easier. Place the salmon fillet skin-side down on the tray.
  4. Coat the salmon: Generously spread the prepared Dijon herb sauce over the top surface of the salmon fillet, ensuring an even coating to infuse flavor during baking.
  5. Bake the salmon: Place the baking tray in the preheated oven and bake the salmon for 18 to 20 minutes, depending on the thickness and size of the fillet. The salmon should be opaque and flake easily with a fork when done.
  6. Serve: Remove the salmon from the oven, slice it into individual portions, and serve immediately while warm for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • Choose fresh, high-quality salmon fillets such as King, Sockeye, or Coho for the best flavor and texture.
  • Adjust the baking time slightly depending on the thickness of your salmon fillets to prevent overcooking.
  • The herb mustard sauce can be varied by adding other herbs like dill or tarragon if desired.
  • Serve with a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad for a balanced, healthy meal.
  • Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and are great for salmon salads or sandwiches.
