These crispy and flavorful Salmon Patties are made with canned or cooked salmon, almond flour, and fresh herbs. Pan-fried to golden perfection and served with a zesty dill-garlic dip, they make a quick and delicious meal perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

Salmon Patties

  • 6-ounce can salmon or cooked salmon
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Dill-Garlic Dip

  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh dill
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cayenne
  • 1/4 teaspoon table salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare Dip & Salmon: Stir together all dill-garlic dip ingredients until well-mixed; cover and refrigerate. Drain salmon can, discard any bones and skin, and pat meat dry with paper towels. Use a digital food scale to measure 6 ounces to use for this recipe.
  2. Make Patties: Stir together all salmon patty ingredients in a large bowl until well-mixed, breaking apart any large chunks of salmon. Divide mixture into 5 equal-sized balls and place them on a nonstick working surface like parchment paper or a silicone baking mat. Use a turner spatula to flatten them into 2 to 3 inch wide patties.
  3. Cook Patties: Heat olive oil in a large pan over medium heat until hot. Use a turner spatula to carefully lower patties into hot oil, one at a time, and evenly spaced. Tilt pan to ensure good oil coverage around all patties. Fry until browned and crispy on the bottom, about 5 to 6 minutes. Flip patties and repeat for the other side, cooking 3 to 4 minutes. Transfer to paper towels to drain excess oil.
  4. Serve: Transfer salmon patties to serving plates, depositing a dollop of dill-garlic dip on top of each patty with the remainder on the side. Enjoy while hot and crispy.

Notes

  • Note 1: Canned salmon can be substituted with cooked fresh salmon for a different texture.
  • Note 2: Almond flour helps bind patties while keeping them gluten-free.
  • Note 3: Properly measuring the salmon ensures consistent patties size and cooking.
  • Note 4: Use a nonstick or cast iron pan for best frying results.
  • Note 5: The dill-garlic dip complements the patties by adding fresh and tangy flavor.
