A quick and easy recipe for perfectly crisp-tender green beans made in the air fryer. Tossed in olive oil, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper, these green beans cook evenly to a deliciously healthy side dish ready in just 20 minutes. A squeeze of fresh lemon juice adds a bright, zesty finish.

Ingredients

Green Beans

  • 1 pound fresh green beans

Seasoning

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon sea salt
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

For Serving

  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 380ºF to ensure it reaches the ideal temperature for cooking the green beans evenly and crisping them.
  2. Prepare Green Beans: Trim the stems off the green beans and cut any larger beans in half to make sure they are roughly the same size for even cooking.
  3. Toss with Seasoning: Place the prepared green beans in a large bowl and add olive oil, sea salt, and freshly ground black pepper. Toss well to evenly coat all the beans.
  4. Air Fry: Transfer the green beans to the air fryer basket, making sure to shake and spread them in a single layer. You might need to cook in two batches if your basket is small. Cook for 8-10 minutes total, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even crisping.
  5. Serve: Once crisp tender, remove the green beans and immediately squeeze fresh lemon juice over them. Serve hot for the best flavor and texture.

Notes

  • To ensure even cooking, do not overcrowd the air fryer basket.
  • If green beans vary greatly in size, cutting larger ones will help them cook uniformly.
  • Adjust seasoning quantities to taste or add garlic powder for extra flavor.
  • This recipe works well with fresh green beans; frozen green beans require different cooking times.
  • Serve immediately to enjoy the crisp texture before they soften.
