A creamy and flavorful avocado spread made with ripe avocados, tahini, lemon juice, and a touch of garlic and spices. This quick and easy recipe creates a smooth, versatile dip or spread perfect for serving with bread, crackers, or fresh vegetables. It’s nutritious, delicious, and ready in just 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 2 large ripe avocados
  • 3 tablespoons tahini (or substitute Greek yogurt)
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • ½ clove garlic, grated
  • ½ teaspoon salt (or more to taste)
  • ⅛ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Prepare the avocados: Cut 2 large ripe avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a food processor or blender.
  2. Add remaining ingredients: Add 3 tablespoons of tahini, 3 tablespoons of lemon juice, ½ clove of grated garlic, ½ teaspoon of salt, and ⅛ teaspoon of black pepper to the blender with the avocado.
  3. Blend the mixture: Blend the ingredients until smooth, stopping once or twice to scrape down the sides to ensure even blending and a creamy texture.
  4. Adjust seasonings and serve: Taste the spread and add more salt or lemon juice if needed. Transfer to a serving bowl and optionally drizzle with good olive oil, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and garnish with cilantro before serving as a dip or spread.

Notes

  • For a creamier texture, substitute tahini with Greek yogurt.
  • This spread can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days; to prevent browning, press plastic wrap directly onto the surface.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor.
  • Add a dash of cayenne or smoked paprika for a spicy twist.
  • Perfect accompaniment to pita bread, crackers, or fresh vegetable sticks.
