Ingredients
Bubble Tea Ingredients
½ cup quick-cooking tapioca pearls (also known as boba pearls, tapioca balls)
1 cup milk of choice (unsweetened oat milk recommended)
plenty of ice cubes (if serving cold)
sweetener of choice (sugar, honey, agave syrup, maple syrup, etc.)
Instructions
Cook Tapioca Pearls: Add tapioca pearls to a pan filled with boiling hot water. Let them simmer for about 5-6 minutes, adjusting cooking time depending on desired chewiness—longer for softer pearls, shorter for chewier ones.
Drain and Sweeten Pearls: Remove the pan from heat and strain the pearls through a sieve or scoop them out with a spoon. Immediately cover the warm pearls with sugar and stir well to coat. Set aside.
Prepare Hot Chocolate Mixture: In a mug or bowl, mix the hot chocolate powder with ⅓ cup boiling hot water until fully dissolved and smooth.
Assemble the Drink: Add the prepared tapioca pearls into a large glass. Fill the glass with plenty of ice cubes to chill if desired. Pour in the milk of choice followed by the hot chocolate mixture.
Serve and Sweeten: Stir the drink thoroughly to blend flavors. Taste and add additional sweetener if needed before serving.
Notes
Adjust the cooking time of tapioca pearls based on your preferred texture.
You can substitute oat milk with any milk variety such as cow’s milk, almond milk, or soy milk.
Sweetener amounts can be customized to taste depending on your preferred level of sweetness.
Serve immediately to enjoy the tapioca pearls at their best texture and temperature.
If you do not have quick-cooking tapioca pearls, prepare according to the package instructions, which may require longer cooking.
