Watermelon Lemonade is a refreshing, naturally sweet beverage made with fresh watermelon, lemon juice, and a touch of sweetener. It’s perfect for hot days, gatherings, or whenever you crave a cool, fruity drink. Dairy-free, vegan, and gluten-free, this lemonade is a healthy alternative to sugary store-bought drinks.

Ingredients

4 cups watermelon, cubed and seeds removed

1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 34 lemons)

24 tablespoons maple syrup, honey, or sugar (adjust to taste)

2 cups cold water or sparkling water (for a fizzy version)

Ice cubes (optional)

Fresh mint or lemon slices for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Watermelon: Cut the watermelon into cubes and remove any seeds. Blend the watermelon cubes until smooth in a blender or food processor.
  2. Strain (Optional): For a smoother lemonade, strain the watermelon juice through a fine mesh sieve to remove any pulp.
  3. Add Lemon Juice and Sweetener: Combine the fresh watermelon juice, lemon juice, and your chosen sweetener in a large pitcher. Stir well until the sweetener dissolves. Taste and adjust the sweetness if necessary.
  4. Add Water or Sparkling Water: Add the cold water or sparkling water to the pitcher and stir. If you want a fizzy lemonade, sparkling water is perfect for that effervescent touch.
  5. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to chill. When ready to serve, fill glasses with ice cubes (optional) and pour the lemonade over them. Garnish with fresh mint or lemon slices.
  6. Enjoy: Serve and enjoy this refreshing Watermelon Lemonade on a hot day or at your next gathering.

Notes

For a slushy version, blend the watermelon lemonade with ice until smooth.

For a herbal twist, muddle fresh mint or basil at the bottom of the pitcher before adding the other ingredients.

Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or jalapeƱo slices for a spicy kick.

For extra fruitiness, add lime, strawberries, or other fruits to the lemonade.
