Tiramisu Truffles are a bite-sized twist on the classic Italian dessert, offering all the rich, creamy, and coffee-infused goodness of traditional tiramisu in a delightful, easy-to-eat form. With layers of chocolate, coffee, and mascarpone, these truffles are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups ladyfinger cookies (or vanilla wafers), crushed into fine crumbs

1/2 cup mascarpone cheese, softened

1/4 cup heavy cream

1/4 cup powdered sugar

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

2 tablespoons strong brewed coffee (cooled)

1/4 cup dark chocolate chips (for coating)

2 tablespoons cocoa powder (for dusting)

1 tablespoon coffee liqueur (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ladyfinger Crumbs: Crush the ladyfinger cookies or vanilla wafers in a food processor until they form fine crumbs. If you don’t have a food processor, you can place them in a zip-top bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  2. Mix the Truffle Filling: In a medium bowl, combine the ladyfinger crumbs, mascarpone cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, brewed coffee, and coffee liqueur (if using). Mix until the ingredients are fully incorporated and form a thick, dough-like consistency.
  3. Shape the Truffles: Using your hands or a small cookie scoop, roll the mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Once all the truffles are shaped, chill them in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
  4. Prepare the Coating: While the truffles chill, melt the dark chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl or over a double boiler. Stir occasionally until smooth.
  5. Coat the Truffles: Once the truffles are firm, dip each one into the melted chocolate, making sure it is fully coated. Use a fork to lift the truffle out of the chocolate and let any excess drip off. Place the coated truffles back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. Dust with Cocoa Powder: While the chocolate coating is still soft, dust the truffles with a light coating of cocoa powder to give them a classic tiramisu appearance.
  7. Chill and Serve: Return the truffles to the refrigerator and let them chill for another 30 minutes, allowing the chocolate coating to set completely. Once set, the truffles are ready to serve!

Notes

Milk Chocolate Coating: For a sweeter truffle, swap the dark chocolate for milk chocolate. It’ll give the truffles a richer, sweeter finish.

Add a Nutty Crunch: For an added texture, roll the truffles in crushed nuts, such as pistachios or hazelnuts, after coating them in chocolate.

Coffee-Infused Chocolate: To deepen the coffee flavor, mix a teaspoon of instant coffee granules into the melted chocolate before coating the truffles.

Mini Tiramisu Truffles: For a mini version, roll the truffles smaller and coat them in a lighter layer of chocolate for bite-sized indulgence.
