Ingredients

1 large sweet or yellow onion

1 tablespoon cornstarch or arrowroot powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/4 teaspoon black pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1/4 teaspoon paprika (optional)

12 teaspoons olive oil or cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven or air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Peel and thinly slice the onion into rings (1/8 to 1/16 inch thick).
  3. Separate into individual rings and pat dry with paper towels.
  4. In a bowl, toss rings with cornstarch and seasonings until evenly coated.
  5. Lightly drizzle or spray with oil and toss again to coat.
  6. Arrange in a single layer on a lined baking sheet or in an air fryer basket, avoiding overlap.
  7. Bake for 10–12 minutes or air-fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping or shaking halfway through, until golden and crisp.
  8. Let cool slightly to firm up before serving.
