Ready in just 30 minutes, it’s ideal for busy weeknights and garnished with parmesan cheese and fresh parsley for an extra burst of taste.

Ingredients

Beef and Seasonings

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon mustard powder
  • ½ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Garlic Butter Sauce

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons garlic, minced

Pasta and Broth

  • 3 cups (24 ounces) chicken broth
  • 8 ounces cavatappi pasta

Garnish

  • ½ cup (50 g) parmesan cheese, grated
  • fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Cook ground beef. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, breaking it up as it browns. Continue cooking for 6-8 minutes until no longer pink. Drain any excess grease, then transfer the beef to a plate and set aside.
  2. Melt butter and cook garlic. In the same skillet, melt the unsalted butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant but not browned.
  3. Return beef and add seasonings. Return the cooked ground beef to the skillet with the garlic butter. Sprinkle in the garlic powder, onion powder, mustard powder, kosher salt, and black pepper. Stir well to evenly coat the beef with the seasonings.
  4. Add chicken broth and pasta; simmer. Pour in the chicken broth and add the cavatappi pasta, making sure the pasta is fully submerged in the liquid. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  5. Cook pasta covered. Cover the skillet and cook for 10-12 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and has absorbed much of the broth.
  6. Garnish and serve. Serve the pasta warm, garnished with freshly grated parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley for added flavor and a pop of color.

Notes

  • Drain excess fat from the cooked ground beef to keep the dish from being greasy.
  • Stir the pasta occasionally to prevent sticking while cooking in the broth.
  • You can substitute cavatappi pasta with other short pasta shapes like rotini or penne.
  • For a richer flavor, use homemade chicken broth or low-sodium broth to control salt levels.
  • Adding parmesan and fresh parsley at the end brings brightness and depth to the finished dish.
