This Homemade Taco Pizza features a golden crescent roll crust topped with seasoned ground beef, a blend of Colby and Monterey Jack cheeses, and fresh taco-style toppings. A delicious and family-friendly twist on traditional pizza, it’s perfect for a quick and satisfying supper.

Ingredients

Crust

  • 16 ounces (2 8-ounce) container crescent dough sheets

Beef Mixture

  • pounds lean ground beef
  • 2 ounces (2 1-ounce) packages of mild taco seasoning
  • ¾ cup water

Toppings

  • 3½ cups freshly shredded Colby and Monterey Jack cheese blend
  • 1 cup quartered grape tomatoes
  • ⅓ cup thinly sliced green onions
  • 1 tablespoon chopped cilantro (optional garnish)
  • Sour cream (optional garnish)
  • Hot sauce (optional garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C) to prepare for baking the pizza crust.
  2. Prepare the crust: Unroll one canister of crescent dough sheets and stretch it to cover half of an ungreased baking sheet. Unroll the second canister and stretch it to cover the remaining half, allowing for some overlap. Press seams together to seal and pierce the dough all over with a fork. Bake the crust for 10 minutes until golden brown.
  3. Cook the ground beef: While the crust bakes, heat a 2 to 4-quart saucepan over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and stir frequently to brown it evenly until no longer pink, approximately 5-6 minutes.
  4. Season the beef: Reduce heat to medium. Add both taco seasoning packets and ¾ cup water to the beef. Stir and cook for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld. Remove from heat.
  5. Assemble the pizza: Once the crust is baked, take it out of the oven and evenly spread the seasoned taco meat over it. Then sprinkle the shredded Colby and Monterey Jack cheese blend generously over the meat layer.
  6. Bake with cheese: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 4-5 minutes until the cheese has completely melted.
  7. Add fresh toppings: Remove the pizza and sprinkle quartered grape tomatoes, sliced green onions, and chopped cilantro on top. Drizzle with sour cream and hot sauce if desired before serving immediately.

Notes

  • To prevent the crust from puffing up excessively, piercing it with a fork before baking is essential.
  • Feel free to customize the toppings with any taco favorites, like sliced olives or jalapeños.
  • For added crispiness, you can bake the crust a couple of minutes longer before adding the toppings.
  • Use mild, medium, or hot taco seasoning based on your spice preference.
  • Leftover pizza keeps well in the refrigerator for 2-3 days; reheat in the oven to maintain crispness.
