This Hoisin Beef Noodles recipe is a flavorful and satisfying dish that combines tender beef, aromatic vegetables, and a savory hoisin sauce that coats the noodles perfectly. The combination of rich flavors and the slight sweetness from the hoisin sauce makes every bite irresistible.

Ingredients

  • 200g beef (sirloin or flank steak works well)
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 200g noodles (egg noodles or rice noodles)
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
  • Fresh cilantro, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Start by slicing the beef thinly against the grain. This helps it cook quickly and stay tender.
  2. In a small bowl, mix together the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, rice vinegar, and sugar to make the sauce. Set aside.
  3. Cook the noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  4. In a large skillet or wok, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until it’s browned and cooked through. Remove the beef from the pan and set it aside.
  5. In the same skillet, add the onion, bell pepper, garlic, and ginger. Stir-fry for 2-3 minutes until the vegetables are slightly softened.
  6. Add the cooked noodles to the skillet along with the hoisin sauce mixture. Toss everything together until the noodles are well coated in the sauce.
  7. Add the beef back into the pan and stir to combine. Cook for another 1-2 minutes to heat everything through.
  8. Garnish with green onions, sesame seeds, and fresh cilantro, if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • If you prefer a vegetarian option, swap the beef with tofu or tempeh.
  • For extra heat, add chili flakes or fresh sliced chili peppers to the stir-fry.
  • Feel free to change up the vegetables based on what you have available, such as mushrooms, bok choy, or carrots.
  • To make the recipe gluten-free, use gluten-free noodles and tamari instead of soy sauce.
