This Glazed Eggnog Bread is the perfect holiday treat, capturing the cozy flavors of eggnog in every bite. The soft, moist bread, combined with a sweet, creamy glaze, makes it a festive addition to any winter gathering. With a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg, this eggnog bread is a delicious and indulgent way to enjoy the flavors of the season.

Ingredients

For the Bread:

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg

1/2 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 cup eggnog

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup vegetable oil

For the Glaze:

1 cup powdered sugar

2 tablespoons eggnog (or more to reach desired consistency)

1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.

  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.

  3. Cream Butter and Sugar: In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.

  4. Add Eggs and Flavorings: Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Then mix in vanilla extract.

  5. Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Alternate adding the dry ingredients and wet ingredients (eggnog, sour cream, and oil) to the butter mixture, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Mix until just combined.

  6. Bake the Bread: Pour batter into prepared loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean. Cover loosely with foil if the top starts to brown too quickly.

  7. Cool the Bread: Let the bread cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

  8. Make the Glaze: While the bread cools, whisk together powdered sugar and eggnog in a small bowl until smooth. Add more eggnog for desired consistency.

  9. Glaze the Bread: Once the bread has cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top and sprinkle with ground nutmeg for garnish if desired.

Notes

You can add chopped walnuts or pecans for extra crunch.

For a fun twist, stir in mini chocolate chips or use a cream cheese glaze instead of the eggnog glaze.

Store bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days, or freeze for longer storage.

To reheat, microwave for 10-15 seconds or warm in the oven at 300°F for about 10 minutes.
