With simple ingredients and minimal prep time, you can have a batch of homemade brownies ready in no time. Whether you’re baking for a special occasion or craving a quick treat, these brownies are guaranteed to satisfy your sweet tooth with every bite.

Ingredients

½ cup unsalted butter, melted

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

⅓ cup unsweetened cocoa powder

½ cup all-purpose flour

¼ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon baking powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the melted butter and sugar until smooth. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, beating well to combine.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until fully combined. The batter will be thick.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs (not completely clean—this ensures a fudgy texture).
  5. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely. Cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze brownies in a sealed freezer bag for up to 3 months.

For fudgier brownies, slightly reduce the baking time and remove them from the oven when a toothpick comes out with just a few crumbs attached.

Customize the brownies by adding nuts, chocolate chips, or caramel swirls.

If the brownies top cracks, it’s often from overmixing or overbaking. Stir gently and don’t bake longer than needed.
