Ingredients

1 lb Italian sausage (spicy or mild, depending on your preference)

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

1/2 cup sour cream

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional for extra heat)

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Salt and pepper to taste

Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Sausage: In a large skillet, cook the Italian sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked, breaking it up into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess grease. Once the sausage is cooked through, remove it from the heat and set aside.
  2. Make the Dip: In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic powder, onion powder, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Stir until the mixture is smooth and well combined. Add the cooked sausage into the mixture and stir to combine. Mix in the shredded mozzarella and grated Parmesan cheese, and season with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Optional Baking: If you prefer a smoother dip, you can transfer the mixture to a baking dish and bake it at 350°F (175°C) for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden on top, or you can keep it on the stovetop for a quick, warm dip.
  4. Serve the Dip: Garnish the dip with freshly chopped parsley or green onions, if desired. Serve hot with your favorite dipping items like tortilla chips, crackers, sliced baguette, or fresh veggies like carrots and celery.

Notes

Add diced tomatoes or a few spoonfuls of marinara sauce for a richer, more tomato-forward flavor.

Use cream cheese with herbs and spices to add even more flavor to the base.

Swap out mozzarella for provolone or gouda for a smokier flavor.

Make it even spicier by adding a chopped jalapeño or a dash of hot sauce to the mix.

Top with a little extra cheese before baking for a cheesy crust on top.
