These bite-sized treats are baked, not fried, making them a perfect snack or dessert without the mess. They’re easy to make, full of flavor, and sure to please everyone.

Ingredients

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon sugar

1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

1/2 cup water

2 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 large egg

1/4 cup unsalted butter (for brushing)

1/2 cup sugar (for coating)

1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it for easy cleanup.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the water, butter, and vanilla extract. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat until the butter is melted.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
  4. Once the butter mixture is simmering, remove it from heat and add the flour mixture all at once. Stir vigorously until a dough forms.
  5. Allow the dough to cool for a minute before adding the egg. Stir in the egg until fully incorporated. The dough should be thick but smooth.
  6. Use a spoon or cookie scoop to form small dough balls (about 1 inch in diameter) and place them onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown and slightly puffed up.
  8. While baking, mix the 1/2 cup sugar and 1 tablespoon cinnamon for the coating.
  9. Brush the baked churro bites with melted butter and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture while they are still warm.
  10. Serve immediately or store for later. Enjoy!

Notes

For extra indulgence, drizzle with melted chocolate after coating with cinnamon-sugar.

You can make these churro bites mini by reducing the dough ball size and adjusting baking time.
