Date Snickers are a healthier and naturally sweetened alternative to the classic Snickers bar. These homemade treats are made with layers of dates, peanut butter, and chocolate, mimicking the indulgent flavors of the original Snickers but with a wholesome twist. Perfect as a snack or dessert, these bars will satisfy your sweet tooth while keeping things nutritious!

Ingredients

1 ½ cups pitted dates

½ cup natural peanut butter

½ cup roasted peanuts

1 ½ cups dark chocolate chips

2 tablespoons coconut oil (for melting chocolate)

Instructions

  1. Start by removing the pits from the dates if they are not already pitted. Blend the dates in a food processor until they form a sticky dough-like consistency.
  2. Line a baking dish or small baking pan with parchment paper. Press the blended dates into the bottom of the pan, creating an even base layer.
  3. Spread the natural peanut butter evenly over the date layer. If you like a thicker peanut butter layer, feel free to add more.
  4. Sprinkle roasted peanuts on top of the peanut butter layer for that signature crunch.
  5. In a small bowl, melt the dark chocolate chips and coconut oil together using a double boiler or microwave in short bursts. Stir until smooth.
  6. Pour the melted chocolate over the peanut layer, spreading it evenly to cover the top.
  7. Place the baking dish in the fridge for at least 2 hours, or until the chocolate has hardened and the bars are set.
  8. Once set, remove from the fridge, cut into bars, and enjoy!

Notes

For a vegan version, use dairy-free chocolate and ensure your peanut butter is plant-based.

If you don’t have a food processor, you can chop the dates finely by hand or use a blender to break them down.

These bars are best enjoyed cold. Store them in the fridge for up to 1 week or freeze them for up to 3 months.

If you prefer a less sweet bar, reduce the amount of dates and peanut butter or use unsweetened chocolate.
