Delicate tea sandwiches featuring creamy cinnamon-orange filling nestled between soft bread slices—elegant and flavorful, ideal for afternoon tea or sweet snacks.

Ingredients

8 slices soft white or whole-wheat sandwich bread

½ cup cream cheese, softened

2 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened

2 tablespoons powdered sugar

1 teaspoon heavy cream (optional, for smoother filling)

1 teaspoon finely grated orange zest

1 tablespoon fresh orange juice

¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon

Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Trim crusts from bread slices and gently flatten them with a rolling pin to make them pliable.
  2. In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, butter, and powdered sugar until smooth. Add orange zest, orange juice, cinnamon, and salt. Stir until creamy. If needed, whisk in heavy cream for smoother texture.
  3. Spread about 1 tablespoon of filling over 4 slices of bread. Top with the remaining 4 slices to form sandwiches.
  4. Wrap sandwiches tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow flavors to meld.
  5. After chilling, slice each sandwich into 3–4 finger-size pieces or triangles. Serve slightly chilled.

Add fresh mint or basil for a herbal twist.

Try multigrain bread for texture and added nutrients.

Substitute honey for sugar and adjust juice for a natural sweetness.
