Chocolate Ooey Gooey Cake is an indulgent dessert combining the richness of chocolate with a gooey center and a slightly crisp top. This irresistible cake has a rich fudgy texture and gooey chocolatey goodness, making it a crowd-pleaser for any occasion.

Ingredients

1 box chocolate cake mix (any variety)

1/2 cup butter, melted

1 large egg

1 cup powdered sugar

8 oz cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra richness)

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line with parchment paper for easy removal.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Stir until the mixture is just combined and forms a thick, cookie-dough-like consistency.
  3. Spread the cake batter evenly in the prepared baking dish, pressing down gently to form a solid layer at the bottom.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat together the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth. Stir in chocolate chips if using.
  5. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the cake batter, covering the entire surface.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes. The cake should be set around the edges, but the center should still be soft and gooey. A toothpick inserted should come out with a few crumbs attached, but not completely clean.
  7. Let the cake cool for 10-15 minutes before cutting into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
  8. Enjoy your decadent Chocolate Ooey Gooey Cake!

Notes

For a peanut butter twist, add 1/2 cup of peanut butter to the cream cheese filling.

To add texture, fold in 1/2 cup of chopped nuts like walnuts or pecans into the cream cheese filling.

Try using a chocolate chip cookie mix instead of cake mix for a cookie-inspired gooey cake.
