This moist and delicious Chocolate Chip Banana Bread recipe is a family favorite that comes together easily in just 10 minutes. Perfectly sweetened and studded with chocolate chips, it’s an irresistible treat for breakfast, snacks, or dessert.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 2 cups all purpose flour (240 grams)
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Wet Ingredients

  • 3 very ripe bananas, mashed well
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled (84.8 grams)
  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature and lightly whisked
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt, room temperature (56.8 grams)
  • 3/4 cup sugar (148.5 grams)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Add-ins

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips (170 grams)

Instructions

  1. Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Spray a 9 by 5 inch bread pan thoroughly with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix dry ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
  3. Mix wet ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together the mashed bananas, cooled melted butter, eggs, yogurt, sugar, and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. Combine wet and dry: Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, taking care not to overmix to keep the bread tender.
  5. Add chocolate chips: Stir in the chocolate chips until just combined, distributing them evenly throughout the batter.
  6. Transfer and bake: Pour the batter into the prepared bread pan and smooth the top. Bake for 55 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool: Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then remove it onto a cooling rack and let it cool for an additional 35 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness and moisture.
  • The melted butter should be cooled so it doesn’t cook the eggs or yogurt when mixed.
  • Sour cream can be substituted for yogurt if desired for extra moisture.
  • You can use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips as alternatives to milk chocolate chips.
  • Do not overmix the batter to avoid tough bread.
