This Cherry Almond Poppyseed Quick Bread is a delightful and easy-to-make treat combining the nutty flavor of almonds with the bright burst of cherry pie filling and the subtle crunch of poppy seeds. Perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a sweet snack, this bread uses a convenient muffin mix for quick preparation and bakes into a moist, flavorful loaf with a beautiful swirl of cherries inside.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 1 pkg Krusteaz Almond Poppyseed Supreme Muffin Mix
  • Enclosed poppy seeds from the muffin mix package

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 large egg

Additional Ingredients

  • 1 cup cherry pie filling

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven and prepare the pan: Heat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 2 1/2-inch loaf pan to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix the batter: In a mixing bowl, stir together the water, egg, and the entire muffin mix until the ingredients are just moistened. Then fold in the poppy seeds that come enclosed in the muffin mix package for added texture and flavor.
  3. Add the cherry pie filling: Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Using a knife, swirl the cherry pie filling gently into the batter to create a marbled effect without fully mixing it in.
  4. Bake the bread: Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for 50 to 55 minutes, or until the bread turns golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  5. Cool and serve: Remove the loaf from the oven and let it cool in the pan for 5 minutes. Gently loosen the edges and remove the bread from the pan. Allow it to cool completely on a wire rack before slicing. Store the bread in a tightly covered container to maintain freshness.

Notes

  • Ensure the loaf pan is greased well to avoid sticking.
  • Check the bread with a toothpick towards the end of baking to avoid overcooking.
  • Swirling the cherry pie filling gently creates a pretty marbled effect without blending the cherry flavor throughout.
  • Store leftover bread in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or refrigerate for longer freshness.
  • Allow the bread to cool completely before slicing to keep slices intact.
