Ingredients

Sandwich Components

  • 6 hoagie rolls

Beef Mixture

  • 2 tablespoons avocado oil or any oil of your choice
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoons McCormick’s Montreal Steak Spice
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 ¼ cup cream of mushroom soup (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1-2 cups cheddar cheese, grated

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Sauté Ground Beef: Heat 2 tablespoons of avocado oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 lb of ground beef and 1 small chopped onion. Sauté for 7-10 minutes until the beef is browned and onions are translucent. Sprinkle 2 teaspoons of Montreal Steak Spice evenly over the mixture.
  2. Add Vegetables and Garlic: To the skillet, add 1 finely chopped green bell pepper and 1 minced garlic clove. Cook for an additional 3 minutes, allowing the vegetables to soften and the flavors to meld.
  3. Incorporate Soup and Sauce: Stir in 1 ¼ cups of cream of mushroom soup and 2 teaspoons of Worcestershire sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue cooking while stirring for 5 minutes until the mixture is heated through and creamy.
  4. Add Cheese: Turn off the heat and fold in 1 ½ cups of grated cheddar cheese until melted and well combined into the beef mixture.
  5. Assemble Sandwiches: Spoon the cheesy beef mixture generously into the 6 hoagie rolls. Serve the sandwiches warm, optionally with extra cream of mushroom soup on the side for dipping or additional moisture.

Notes

  • If the filling mixture is too thick, add a few tablespoons of milk to achieve a creamier consistency.
  • Drain excess beef grease if there is too much fat, or choose leaner ground beef to reduce grease.
  • For a spicy kick, mix in sriracha sauce into the beef mixture before assembling the sandwich.
