This quick and easy flatbread recipe yields soft, fluffy bread perfect for any meal, made with simple pantry staples and ready in just 10 minutes. No yeast or lengthy rising times are required, making it a great choice for a speedy homemade bread alternative.

Ingredients

Dry Ingredients

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour (480 grams)
  • 10 grams baking powder (one package)
  • 8 grams salt (one teaspoon)

Wet Ingredients

  • 1 cup yogurt (220 grams)
  • 250 milliliters clear water (about 3/4 cup)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (15 milliliters)
  • 3.5 tsp avocado oil (50 milliliters) – used for brushing optional

For Cooking

  • Butter for brushing after cooking

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Wet Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine yogurt, water, and baking powder. Stir well until the mixture is smooth and all ingredients are fully incorporated.
  2. Form the Dough: Gradually add the all-purpose flour, salt, and vegetable oil into the wet mixture. Gently knead by hand or with a spoon until a soft, cohesive dough forms. Be careful not to over-knead to keep the bread tender.
  3. Shape the Dough: Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. Cover the dough balls with a damp cloth or plastic wrap to prevent them from drying out. Take each ball and roll it into a disc approximately the size of a dessert plate.
  4. Cook the Bread: Preheat a skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Place one flattened dough disc onto the hot skillet. Cook for several minutes until the bottom side is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until golden as well. No oil is needed in the pan.
  5. Finish and Serve: Once each flatbread is cooked, brush it generously with butter while still warm for extra flavor. Serve immediately and enjoy your quick, fluffy flatbreads!

Notes

  • Do not over-knead the dough to keep the bread soft and fluffy.
  • Keep dough balls covered while shaping to avoid drying out.
  • Cooking on medium heat ensures the bread cooks evenly without burning.
  • Butter brushing is optional but recommended for enhanced taste and moisture.
  • These flatbreads are best served warm but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
