Blackberry Basil Ricotta Pizza is a unique fusion of savory and sweet flavors, featuring a creamy ricotta base, fresh blackberries, basil, and a drizzle of honey. This pizza offers a refreshing twist on traditional flavors, making it perfect for a light meal or appetizer.

Ingredients

1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)

1 cup ricotta cheese

1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tbsp olive oil (for brushing)

1 cup fresh blackberries

1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, torn

1 tbsp honey (optional, for drizzling)

Salt and pepper to taste

1 tsp balsamic glaze (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, preheat it as well, but a regular baking sheet will work fine too.
  2. Roll out the pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness. Transfer it to a parchment-lined baking sheet or pizza stone.
  3. In a small bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper. Spread an even layer of ricotta over the rolled-out pizza dough, leaving a small border around the edges for the crust.
  4. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese over the ricotta layer for extra melty goodness.
  5. Brush the crust with olive oil to help it brown and crisp. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
  6. Once the pizza is out of the oven, immediately scatter the fresh blackberries over the hot pizza. Tear fresh basil leaves and scatter them over the pizza as well.
  7. Drizzle a small amount of honey over the pizza for an extra layer of sweetness. If desired, drizzle balsamic glaze for a tangy finish.
  8. Slice and serve immediately. Enjoy the unique combination of savory and sweet flavors!

Notes

For added crunch, sprinkle some toasted pine nuts or chopped walnuts over the pizza.

Use different berries like raspberries, strawberries, or blueberries for a different flavor.

For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free pizza dough.

If making a vegan version, substitute the ricotta and mozzarella with dairy-free alternatives.

Store any leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.

For extra crispy crust, pre-bake the dough for 5-7 minutes before adding toppings or bake on a pizza stone.
