Ingredients

1 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

½ cup packed brown sugar

1 large egg

2 Tbsp fresh orange juice

1 tsp grated orange zest

2½ cups all-purpose flour

½ tsp baking soda

½ tsp salt

2 cups chopped fresh cranberries

½ cup chopped walnuts (optional)

For the glaze:

1½ cups powdered sugar

3 Tbsp orange juice

½ tsp orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 °F and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  3. Add egg, orange juice, and zest; beat until combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually stir into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in chopped cranberries and optional walnuts.
  6. Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto prepared baking sheets, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake 12–14 minutes or until edges are golden. Let cool on baking sheets for a few minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. To make the glaze, whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, and zest until smooth. Drizzle over cooled cookies and let set.

Notes

Substitute dried cranberries (¾ cup) if fresh are unavailable—soak first for best texture.

Add white chocolate chips for extra sweetness or swap walnuts with pecans.

For gluten-free, use a 1:1 GF flour blend.

Adjust glaze consistency with more juice or sugar as needed.

Cookies freeze well—glaze after thawing for freshest presentation.
