Crispy and delicious Air Fryer Apple Fries made with tart Granny Smith apples, coated in a crunchy cinnamon graham cracker crust. These gluten-free apple fries are quick to prepare and perfect as a sweet snack or side dish, offering a warm, flavorful treat with minimal oil and a healthier twist.

Ingredients

Apples

  • 3 Large Granny Smith Apples

Dredging & Coating

  • 1 Cup Gluten-Free or Regular All-Purpose Flour
  • 3 Large Eggs
  • 1 1/2 Cups Gluten-Free or Regular Graham Cracker Crumbs
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 2 Tsp Cinnamon
  • Pinch of Salt

Cooking Spray

  • Grapeseed Oil Cooking Spray or Coconut Oil Cooking Spray High Heat Spray

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Peel, core, and slice each Granny Smith apple into 8 even wedges to ensure uniform cooking and crispiness.
  2. Set Up the Dredging Station: Place the flour in one shallow dish, beat the eggs in a second dish, and in a third dish combine the graham cracker crumbs, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt for the coating mixture.
  3. Coat the Apple Slices: Dip each apple wedge first into the flour, tapping off any excess, then into the beaten eggs allowing excess to drip off, and finally coat them thoroughly with the graham cracker crumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere well.
  4. Prepare for Cooking: Arrange the coated apple fries on a baking sheet or plate and spray them evenly with your choice of high-heat cooking oil spray for a crispy finish.
  5. Air Fry the Apple Fries: Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (193°C) for 3 minutes. Optionally, line the air fryer basket with parchment paper. Place the apple fries in the basket in a single layer and cook for 5-7 minutes, flipping them halfway through around 3 minutes to achieve even browning.
  6. Serve: Transfer the cooked apple fries to a wire rack to cool slightly, then serve warm, ideally with caramel sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Granny Smith apples are ideal for this recipe due to their tartness, which balances the sweet coating perfectly. Avoid using Red or Golden Delicious apples as they tend to become too soft when cooked.
  • These apple fries are best enjoyed immediately after air frying as reheating can make them soggy from the apple moisture.
