These 3 Ingredient Healthy Applesauce Oatmeal Cookies are a quick and easy treat made with wholesome ingredients. Using unsweetened applesauce and quick oats, these cookies offer a naturally sweet and chewy texture, perfect for a nutritious snack or breakfast treat. Customizable with your favorite mix-ins like dried fruit or chocolate chips, they bake up soft and tender without any added sugar or flour.

Ingredients

Base Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (4 oz) unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 cup quick oats

Mix-Ins (Optional)

  • 1/2 cup chopped dried fruit, chocolate chips, or other desired mix-ins

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (177°C). Line a baking sheet with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the unsweetened applesauce and quick oats. Use a spoon to mix until the oats are evenly moistened by the applesauce. Stir in your chosen mix-ins. Alternatively, for a cleaner look, you can add mix-ins on top of each cookie before baking.
  3. Shape Cookies: Using a 1.5 tablespoon cookie scoop, form dough balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet spaced about 2 inches apart. Flatten each dough ball gently to about 3/8 inch thick with the back of a spoon or your hand, as the cookies will not spread during baking.
  4. Bake: Bake the cookies for 13-15 minutes until they are set. To check doneness, carefully lift a cookie with a spatula; it should lift in one piece. Remove from oven and allow the cookies to cool before removing from the baking sheet.
  5. Store: Store the cooled cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for 1-2 days, or refrigerate or freeze them for longer storage.

Notes

  • You can add mix-ins directly into the dough or sprinkle on top before baking for a prettier presentation.
  • These cookies do not spread during baking, so be sure to shape them as desired before putting them in the oven.
  • Store cookies in an airtight container to keep them fresh. Refrigerate or freeze for extended storage.
